Earthhour 2008 is tonight, March 29 from 8-9PM

Tonight at 8-9pm, we will be turning off all our lights and shutting down all our computers, printers, and monitors at AMIN Solutions headquarters. This is our way of showing our support for Earthhour 2008. We at AMIN Solutions have signed up to participate in this movement and I hope that you all do too. Here are links to more information:

Almost done with CMPT 470 SFU course

We just had our last class Thursday evening and am I glad it’s almost over. It was an interesting class because it was non-standard. We had traditional classroom sessions but throughout the semester, the students were tucked away in our own project groups. Our group focused on the DotNetNuke Framework using VB/C# programming languages, Windows 2003 Standard Server, SQL 2005 Express, and .NET technology. It’s a very difficult framework to use and even more difficult to customize. Our project was about developing an online ticketing system for the SFU Images Theater and the lessons learned were mainly with meeting deadlines, commitment, training, correct scope definitions, checkpoints, and proper presentations. The technology was second to all the project development life cycle which was in itself worth the cost for taking this course. I learned a lot about development and more importantly, learned that you work with people and will need to be accomodating of everyone’s skill level and needs.

Our poster session is next week where we showcase our project. I may not be able to make it but am sure it will be a blast as the other students in my group will surely wow everyone.
